One way to make food photography look more interesting is by adding an element of action. For this image, we focused on the preparation of a light summer dinner menu that might be served to a group of health-conscious friends. My team and I loved the tribal tattoo on the chef's forearm, so we asked if he could spread pesto onto a piece of bread alongside the hero food items being showcased. The end result is a more interesting composition that showcases both the food and the fun someone might have in preparing this menu.
