As a Los Angeles food photographer who has shot numerous cookbooks, I have learned that such undertakings require a great team of dedicated people, including a prop stylist, a food stylist, recipe developers, publisher representatives and, of course, the best possible photographer (Vanessa Stump). Cookbook photography involves a lot of technical skills, as the photographer must understand how to light ceramic, metal and wood presentation elements. Making the final outcome of a recipe look appetizing and delicious is always the goal, which is why styling becomes so important. The Clean Eats cookbook that I photographed was on the New York Times Bestseller List.
